Moms Don’t Create Holiday Magic (kids do)
I disagree with the sentiment that “moms create the holiday magic.”
I was pregnant, newly postpartum, or caring for a newborn almost every December from 2015-2023. And when my capacity was low, adding more to my plate didn't feel magical at all.
So I stopped believing it.
Instead, I decided: kids make the holiday magic.
Historically, we've kept things very simple.
We always had a tree...but haven't always decorated it. We've always had gifts...but haven't always wrapped them.
And magically... my kids have still loved it.
So here's your official permission to stop expecting yourself to implement every single thing you see on instagram, and trust that your kids will be just fine, because a December without unnecessary added stress sounds pretty magical to me ;)
XOXO, HAN
PS Highly recommend a simple dinner on the floor with mostly finger foods + dips and these battery operated candles. The ambiance of candlelight without the anxiety of small children around open flames?! Right in front of the light of the Christmas tree?! SIGN ME UP!
