Natural Botox alternative that actually works (with pics to prove!)
I’m going to preface this whole thing by saying that my forehead is not completely smooth. Comparing training my forehead to be less expressive with taping it does not do the exact same thing that botox would and I get that! BUT, this is my experience with taping my forehead and while it’s not as perfectly smooth as it would be with botox, the fact that it is smoother now than when I started (with little effort and cost!) is undeniable.
Back in 2018, I learned about Frownies at a favorite things party. I was skeptical, but the girl who brought them sweared that they worked. So I started looking into it, found their Facebook group and was blown away by the before and afters I started seeing. So I started using them. But there was one problem… they were quite a bit of work and it felt IMPOSSIBLE to be consisent with them.
When I remembered to use them regularly I did start to see results, but true to my nature as a type-B girlie…adding a labor intensive step to my bedtime routine just wasn’t in the cards. Plus, they were a bit pricey.
That’s when I discovered FACE TAPING. Now I will say that frownies as a whole are likely a more effective product. They REALLY cast your forehead to reduce movement and train your face to not move both at night and during the day.
HERE’S MY FULL ROUTINE:
Night
cleanse (the cleanser I’ve been using has been discontinued! But as soon as I run out I plan to get this one because I’ve heard amaaazinggg things!)
(you can watch this video to see exactly how I apply it, but truly don’t over think it! Just MAKE SURE you don’t set the tape on your hairline or eyebrows because it WILL rip your hair out when you remove it. Ask me how I know 😵💫 (also IDK how this works with self-tanner?! I know if you don’t moisturize under it will definitely pull your spray tan off! AH! But I don’t know how much of a problem it is if you’ve moisturized first.)
Morning
remove tape
spray face with this hypochlorous acid (I’ve heard it’s just as good as the more expensive brands but a fraction of the cost!)
AAAnd then repeat repeat repeat! I’m sure I’ll build on this over time but the fact that I actually have a morning and evening routine for the first time ever in my life as a 34 year old woman is a big deal if you ask me! Ha!
Sometimes when I don’t think that it’s doing anything, I’ll look at my before and after comparisons and be blown away!
Feel free to ask any questions you may have!! The main thing with this is that it takes TIME. Months. Even years. And even then it’s not going to produce the same level of results as botox. But you can’t beat the price and there’s very little downside so I plan to stick with it!
XOXO, HAN
